For thousands of years, the Psalms have been sources of inspiration for Jews as well as members of other traditions. In this class, we will come together weekly to engage in study of the Hebrew Bible’s collection of devotional poetry – the book of Psalms. During each session, we will read and discuss a different poem as well as learn some of the special qualities of biblical poetry. And, as we ourselves pass through a time of instability and fear, we will draw strength from these raw expressions of basic human experience, each filled with pain and hope, gratitude and longing.
